The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization focusing on service to veterans, service members, and communities. We are orginizized into a National Headquarters and fifty-six Departments—one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.

The Illinois Department is divided into five Divisions and twenty-five Districts.

The Minooka American Legion Post 1188 is located in the 2nd Division, 12th District.

The Hines Mobile Medical Unit brings accessible health care and social work services for veterans to our local communities. The MMU does not operate on holidays and sometimes is out of service for various reasons.

Enrollment in the VA Health Care Program is required to receive services. Assistance with an application for enrollment is available at the MMU.
